Jessie on The Moonlight

The Moonlight

Picture saying that child slavery should be abolished, again
In our 8th grade class we are reading a book called The Moonlight. It is about a boy that is kidnapped, and being forced to work on the slave ship. This is a form of child labor. A boy around the age of fourteen or thirteen is being kidnapped to play an instrument on the ship. If he does not play then he will most likely get thrown overboard, or get whipped multiple times. This is similar to modern day child labor. Today children are kidnaped, like Jessie, and forced to work on farms, or in sweat shops etc. If they try and rebel or run away then they will get punished. Things have not changed with child labor for over one hundred years.
